Note from the Founder

Last week I spent a few days in paradise, vacationing on Singer Island in
Florida. I spent some time last night sitting on the beach by myself and
enjoying the sunset, waves, sand, and quiet. Being near the water has
always reminded me of God's awesome power and the amazing earth He
has created! The waves crashed onto the sand as the sun sank below the
horizon.

A few years back I wanted to return to competitive ice-skating. I begged
God to make it possible. I tried to make deals with Him, telling Him that I
would skate my routines only to Christian music that glorified Him. Months
later when I was putting my routine together, I completely forgot all those
deals I had made and went to go pick the music to which I wanted to skate.
I ended up choosing "Footprints in the Sand" by Leona Lewis. At the time,
I thought this song was beautiful and slow enough to skate a routine to.
After I started working with it and had to listen to the music in order to
choreograph the routine, I realized that it was talking about God and the
fact that He is always there.

God used that song as a turning point in my relationship with Him to show
me that at every point in my life and whatever I was doing, He would be
there. I had not intended to glorify Him at all through my program, but He
took that program and turned it around to show me how amazing He is and
to change my heart. I love that song to this day and was so blessed when
I had the chance to skate to those words. As you go through your life,
remember that God will be with you wherever you go and whatever you do.

In Him,

Madeline

The Name

HIM+Her

Our name represents our relationships with God. It's between you and God – HIM and you or, in the case of our readers, "Her." We wanted to reflect that relationship in the name and in the purpose, and this led to the name HIM+Her.

My Vision

As a middle school student I asked for a subscription to Brio Magazine, a print magazine created by Focus On The Family for Christian girls. As I got older and watched as Brio Magazine was shut down, I saw a gap in the media for young female Christians. I am now a senior in high school and while interning for a non-profit in Boston, I watched many young men and women start their own business and knew I could do the same. God put on my heart to start a Christ-based media source for young women who are in high school and college. This is exactly what I am doing with Him+Her. Him+Her is an online magazine and website where young Christian women can connect with other young women and read articles that relate to their lives. My estimated launch date is June 1, 2011, and I cannot wait to see what God does through me and the magazine!
